Tri-County Motors was originally founded by Tom, a lifelong Rudyard resident who purchased the shop 48 years ago when it was just an old gas station. With dedication, skill, and community spirit, Tom transformed it into the trusted three-bay repair facility it is today. After spending his life building the business and supporting the people of Rudyard, Tom decided to retire and enjoy more time with his family. That’s when fate stepped in.

John Rush and Tracy Noorman had long dreamed of relocating to Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula. With strong family ties to the area and years of vacation memories, it felt like home away from home. When the Tri-County Motors listing appeared for the third time in their search, they knew it was meant to be. With John bringing 35 years of experience as an ASE Master Certified Technician and Tracy offering 35 years in customer service—including a decade in human resources—it was a perfect fit.

After meeting with Tom, the staff, and reviewing the business, John and Tracy knew they had found something special. The loyal customer base, the shop’s solid reputation, and its vital role in a close-knit community made it clear that this wasn’t just a business—it was a legacy worth continuing. Their goal? To carry on Tri-County Motors’ tradition of excellent auto service while modernizing outdated systems and expanding the shop’s outreach.
